After being an intern for Golf Saskatchewan several years ago, followed by time working at Golf Town, PGA of Saskatchewan member Carson Olson is the new tournament director for the provincial amateur association.
Olson, 24, hails from Tisdale, Sask. at takes over for Alex Schmidt in the role. Olson began his new role with Golf Saskatchewan on July 2 at the Junior Championships in Yorkton.
He worked the Amateur Championships under CEO Brian Lee, but will manage the Saskatchewan Senior Championships this week in Nipawin. Olson said he is adapting to the role and has enjoyed the busy start.
“I knew what went into an event of this magnitude from my intern days, but to now be in the role after my time at Golf Town, I am really excited to conduct the championships plus work on the grassroots part of the game,” he said.
Once the championship season is complete, Olson will be hard at work developing camps, lessons, and preparing for next and and future championships.
